Release Calendar: June 24, 2024

BRB, backlog getting bigger.

Friends, readers, one of my most anticipated releases, Polychroma Games’ Until Then, drops this week. That’s on the heels of another of my most anticipated games, Tavern Talk, which released last week on PC and Switch. (Check out my Twitch Stream VOD of the first few hours HERE. That’s right! I’m back to streaming. Maybe. For now, at least.)

TL;DR: I’m streaming again. But more importantly, it’s a great time to be an indie fan. I’m living for this stuff.

Dice & Fold – June 24

I’m slowly warming to turn-based games thanks to ones like Dice & Fold from Tinymice Entertainment. There’s no weird mechanic here, combat is handled by rolling dice and you can earn different items to improve those rolls or give your class certain upgrades and buffs. Losing didn’t make me feel terrible, either, which is always a plus. I know I will be spending a decent amount of time with this one.

A Little to the Left: Seeing Stars – June 25 (Also for Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation)

Seeing another expansion for A Little to the Left certainly wasn’t on my Summer Game Fest Bingo card, but it wasn’t unwelcome! 38 new levels will be part of the DLC, with some levels having multiple solutions, as well as a new soundtrack, multiple cats, and more.

Until Then – June 25 (Also for PlayStation 5)

The (my) marquee event this week! Ignore the thumbnail, the developers delayed the game a few weeks before that date, and Tuesday is the day. I played this one during Steam Next Fest in February and was HOOKED.

You play as Mark Borja, a piano-playing high schooler who enjoys playing games and finishing school assignments the period before they’re due. You got introduced to several of Mark’s friends during the demo, including a fellow procrastinator who’d rather be playing basketball named Ryan, and Louise, a high achiever, class President, and Mark’s crush among others.

What struck me, besides the pixelated art style was the realism of it all. From Mark trying to find meaning in everyday life, scrolling social media, those moments of panic trying to complete something in the moments before it’s due to the feeling of feelings not being reciprocated… It spoke to me, and I know it’ll speak to others. (Especially fans of games like Life is Strange.)

For those interested, I’ll be streaming Until Then on my Twitch channel on Friday, June 28, starting at 9 am Central time. Feel free to stop by the channel and hang out!

Thanks for checking out The Indie Game Cafe. Share the post with a friend and make their backlog a little bigger.
