Virtual Brew: LogiGolf Captures the Magic of Mini-Golf’s Puzzle Side
Growing up, I was never particularly great at mini-golf, but it didn’t stop me from having fun with it when I had the chance. I always appreciated the puzzle aspect to it all, which brings us to our latest Virtual Brew, LogiGolf from Italian studio Moon Tile.
They’ve been working on the game since 2024 and published the demo on Steam this May. I say it in the video, but the whole concept reminded me of the segment in Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land where he learned about geometry and applied it to playing pool.
The vibes in LogiGolf are very chill. You load in and notice there are no obstacles between your ball and the hole, but that’s because you are the one to place them. Some barrier blocks create a 90-degree turn for your ball. Others rotate after being hit, changing the angle on a return shot. Another can even move backward a space, changing the hole as well. It added a great bit of variety, and combined with the fact that there were no penalties (that I noticed) for trial and error, made it even more approachable.
The lo-fi backing music is fantastic; I hope that when the full game releases next year, purchasing the soundtrack is an option. And the game isn’t just about putting together mini-golf holes, either; as you travel from hole to hole and island to island, you encounter these creatures that made me think of the Rot from Kena but with longer arms and longer legs. There are some hidden secrets between holes, whether it’s picking up mushrooms or figuring out how to snuff out candles on a cake or send one of the little guys around the world on a swing.
The verdict here? The demo was a great slice of what the game is like, but still left plenty of surprises to uncover in a future demo or the 2027 release. I’m looking forward to working with more types of barrier blocks, or perhaps even obstacles you’ll see in a more traditional mini-golf course. LogiGolf is an easy demo to recommend if you’re a fan of puzzle games that encourage your to try different things without suffering punishing mistakes.
